    We DID have orcas today!

    Hah, we DID have orcas today! So awesome to finally see some black fins out there again! We had to do a long search towards the East until we finally spotted two orcas travelling into one of the smaller fjords. One of them was male SN066 “Supreme”, also known as the “Hulk” in Scotland as he travels between Iceland and Scotland. The scenery was stunning today, with very unique light conditions. As you could see in our live stream, there were lots of happy faces at the end of the tour!

    Another day, another try, but still the orcas would not show up today either! We wonder where they are…

  • No cetaceans!

    Unfortunately, no cetaceans were spotted on our whale watching tour. This time we went towards the West to scout a different area, but still no luck. We need the weather to improve in the new year, so we can try and scout other areas!

  • First tour in the new year

    On our first tour in the new year, we were not lucky with cetacean sightings either. Even though, we did a thorough scout in Breidafjördur, there were no black fins to be seen. On the way, we spotted a white-tailed eagle, and three seals at the island Melrakkaey. We are really hoping for more life in the ocean soon!

  • Stunning light conditions

    Also today was not a day with an appearance of orcas or white-beaked dolphins. What was unique on this trip, however, were the stunning light conditions, with the sunshine right behind Kirkjufell! We are wishing everyone a good start into the new year!

  • Scenery were beautiful

    On our whale watching tour today, sadly, we also did not encounter any whales or dolphins. Light conditions and scenery were beautiful, the mountains are completely covered in snow. We really wish for some black fins to appear tomorrow!

  • Grey seals in the area!

    Today we had a tour going out at 11am, but did not spot any whales or dolphins. There were quite a few grey seals in the area, and we had a look at the island Melrakkaey and the surrounding area. We are sure hoping for better weather in the new year – the next three days are cancelled due to stormy weather!

  • Group of orcas after a long search

    Group of orcas after a long search

     On our whale watching tour today we were lucky to encounter a small group of orcas after a long search. They were going for very long dives, but the looks we got at them in between were rewarding our patience. The group travelled slowly towards North, with some shallow dives in between. It was great to see them in front of the snowy mountains!

  • A look at the lighthouse and the birds at Melrakkaey Island

     We finally had a tour again today, but, unfortunately, did not spot any whales or dolphins. However, we ventured out towards the North and West in Breidafjördur, had a look at the lighthouse and the birds at Melrakkaey Island, and enjoyed a great hot chocolate while looking at a white landscape as we have so much snow at the moment!
